Sloppy Joe – homemade 💕

This sloppy joe recipe is easy but does require more ingredients given you are not using the McCormick’s Seasoning packet.

Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp prepared mustard
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Hamburger buns


Instructions

  1. Make the sauce in a 2 cup glass measuring cup or small bowl
  2. Stir together the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper.  Set aside.
  3. With a small amount of olive oil, saute the garlic for a minute, until fragrant
  4. Add ground beef and continue to cook over medium heat until nicely browned and done.
  5. Drain the grease/fat.
  6. Pour the sauce over the ground beef, stirring to combine.
  7. Simmer for at least 10 minutes.
  8. Serve hot on hamburger buns.
