Crockpot French Dip

Recipe by BevCrockett

Delicious and tender!

Crockpot French Dip

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2  pkgs Au Jus gravy mix – I use McCormick’s
  • 2 pkgs Italian dressing mix – I use Good Season’s
  • 3 large onions – sweet, white or red, your choice
  • 32 oz Beef broth
  • 5 lb top or bottom round roast – boneless
  • provolone cheese slices (or your choice)
  •  8 – French bread/Hoagie rolls

Instructions

  1. Spray crockpot with cooking spray – I use olive oil.
  2. Slice onions and place on bottom of crockpot.
  3. place been roast on top of onions.
  4. Sprinkle Au Jus gravy mix and Italian dressing mix onto beef
  5. Add the beef broth
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6 – 8 hours or until beef is ‘fork’ tender.
  7. After cooking, remove roast and strain broth into a bowl.
  8. Broth can be used for french dip sandwiches or for open faced roast beef sandwiches. (See Below)
  9. Slice roast beef into thin slices.
  10. Make sandwiches by using onions, beef and provolone cheese.
  11. Wrap sandwiches in foil and warm in oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
  12. Unwrap, serve and enjoy.

Notes

The original recipe was from The Cookie Rookie.

Note – if you choose gravy over dipping sauce, mix a heaping table spoon of cornstarch with enough milk to make a paste.  Bring broth to boil on stove then add the mixture to thicken for gravy.

Serve with fries or your choice of starch and a veggie.
