Slow Cooker Pork Roast
This recipe calls for a ‘shoulder’ roast which we find cooks up better and is more tender and moist vs. other cuts.

Ingredients
Scale
- 4-5 lb. pork shoulder roast
- 3 large vidalia onions – sliced
- McCormick Grill Mates Roasted Garlic and Herb Seasoning – we buy the big container at Costco
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Grease slow cooker if you prefer
- Place sliced onions in bottom of cooker – save some for the top
- Rub pork with seasoning and blend in salt – make sure the whole roast is covered
- Place roast on top of the onions
- Put remaining onions on top of the roast
- Pour broth around the roast – do not pour over to maintain the seasoning
- Cover and cook on high 4 – 5 hours or low 6 – 7 hours
Notes
Be sure not to over or undercook the reoast. I typically check after 4 hours. Internal temperature should be 170 degrees.
I also uses the broth as gravy – pour into sauce pan and make a cornstarch and milk paste to thicken for gravy.

Thanks for stopping by – until next time, may your days be grace filled, your kitchen warm and your heart rooted right where you are. 🩶
