Bread Pudding (with Nutmeg)

Recipe by Bev Crockett

This bread pudding is my favorite and one I grew up on.  I do have two other recipes on my blog.  One is my  Mother-in-Law’s which my husband prefers for the same reason – he grew up on it 🫶🏼.  And the third is actually one with a caramel sauce.  Try them all and let me know which you prefer.

Bread Pudding

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • nutmeg
  • enough bread to make a pudding

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Whisk the eggs
  3. Add sugar and milk
  4. Sprinkle some nutmeg into the mix
  5. Break 3 -4  slices of bread into small pieces – you may need more
  6. Put the bread into the mixture – it should be ‘soupy’.
  7. Pour into prepared baking dish – I use 8 x 8
  8. Sprinkle nutmeg to your liking on top.
  9. Bake in a pan of water for 1 hour

Thanks for stopping by – until next time, may your days be grace filled, your kitchen warm and your heart rooted right where you are. 🩶
