Country Hamburger Steak
Any country folk have to have a good hamburger steak in their menu line-up. This is a great recipe which my family absolutely loves.
As a quick note, as a quicker, easier recipe, you can also use frozen hamburger patties from your local butcher, season with Montreal Steak seasoning, fry with onions then add jar gravy. Super quick alternative. 💕

Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 T oil
- 1 small sliced onion
- 3 T flour
- 1 1/2 cup beef broth
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.
- Form into 6 – 8 balls and flatten into patties.
- Heat the oil in large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and patties.
- Fry the patties and onions in the oil until patties are nicely browned – about 4 minutes per side.
- Remove patties from the skillet, place and on a plate to keep warm.
- Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet.
- Stir in the flour with a fork, scraping bits of beef off the bottom as you stir.
- Gradually mix in the beef broth, seasoned with salt.
- Simmer and stir over medium – low heat for about 5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy and cover, simmer for another 15 mintues.
- Serve hot.
Notes
The original recipe was from All Recipes. I do double this. You can also increase the onions if you prefer more.
I serve with egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
