Swedish Meatballs

Recipe by BevCrockett

This is an old time favorite, using pre-mixed McCormick’s packets.  You can also mix your own for that ‘homemade’ taste.

Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pkg McCormick Swedish Meetball mix
  • 2 lbs fresh ground beef
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 4 T oil
  • 4 cups milk
  • Parsley – optional

Instructions

  1. The seasoning packet contains 2 sleeves
  2. Open #2 and pour into a large bowl
  3. Add hamburger and water to bowl – mixing well (I use food safe gloves for a consistent mixing)
  4. Shape into 1 – 1 1/2 “ balls – (I use the small scoop for consistent size)
  5. Heat oil in large skillet – medium heat
  6. Add meatballs, cooking for about 10 minutes or until 160
  7. Remove meatballs – you may need to cook multiple batches
  8. Open envelope #1, pouring into bowl with milk.  Mix well.
  9. Add to skillet after meatballs are done.
  10. Stir constantly until sauce comes to a boil
  11. Reduce heat and simmer until thickened about 5-7 minutes
  12. Add meatballs back to sauce.
  13. Cover and cook on low for about 10 minutes.
  14. Sprinkle with Parsley and serve over egg noodles or rice.
